In the heart of the Dolomites
Ladies and gentlemen, Alta Badia
Colfosco is a characteristic mountain village in Alta Badia, located at the foot of the Sella Group and the Puez-Odle Nature Park. Spending a holiday with us means experiencing a holiday in contact with nature, surrounded by the magnificent Dolomite scenery where you can enjoy countless activities for everyone and in all seasons.
Let yourself be tempted by the deliciousness of the typical local products and be seduced by the traditions of this South Tyrolean village that has preserved and continues the Ladin culture.
The Dolomites
The Dolomites are the ideal background for your holiday in Lüch de Costa. They are the first thing you admire in the morning when you open the balconies of our apartments, and they accompany you in every moment of the day as you swim in the pool or relax in the whirlpool.
The Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. Majestic, imposing and with an ancient history to tell, these mountains have fascinated man for centuries.
The Sellaronda
Lüch de Costa is located at the centre of the Sellaronda, one of the most beautiful and renowned circuits in the Dolomites, which can be explored on skis in winter or by bike in summer. Along this fascinating route, which goes around the Sella massif touching the Campolongo, Sella, Pordoi and Gardena Passes, it is possible to cross beautiful natural scenery and enjoy the view of the unique landscapes of the Dolomites.
The tasty side of things
Alta Badia is distinguished not only by its world-famous slopes and enchanting trails, but also by its undeniably gourmet side. Good food and a stylish lifestyle can take on many facets in Alta Badia. There are those who prefer cosy mountain huts or restaurants serving traditional Ladin cuisine. There are those, on the other hand, who prefer more sophisticated and elegant settings in which they can enjoy something unusual and at the same time genuine. But what always brings everyone together is the passion and love that are at the basis of Alta Badia cuisine, combined with respect for local customs and tradition.
Seasons
From season to season, the beauty of the Dolomites
The reasons to spend a holiday in a unique landscape such as the Dolomites are always good, valid and more than ever opportune. Whether summer or winter, our mountains offer endless possibilities not only for leisure, but also to rediscover the time spent with mother nature that we often neglect. Don't think of hit-and-run holidays, but take as many days as you can, because the Dolomites deserve long, relaxed, quiet time. And then the things to do are endless. We are waiting for you.
The long days of summer
Hiking, cycling, climbing, playing golf, and visiting the Puez-Odle Nature Park: in summer, among blossoming meadows and pink-tinged peaks in the evening, there are many activities one can do.
The charm of the snow
The absolute star of the winter season is the snow, which covers the peaks, meadows and fields of our beloved Dolomites with magical candour. Skiing in these areas means spending entire days in a paradise of slopes for all tastes that can be reached by a network of interconnected lifts that the world envies us.
And then there is cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing in the woods and in the silence of nature. A spectacle of absolute grandeur.
Experiences in Alta Badia
Our tips
Walks
Walks
What we recommend to our guests in order to get an idea of the beauty that surrounds them is a walk that starts from our house, goes towards the Edelweiss refuge, climbs towards the Puez-Odle Nature Park, reaches the top of the Gardena Pass and then descends towards the Pisciadù waterfalls. The spectacle is guaranteed. This is just a taste, then there is the Sassongher, or the Puez refuge, always starting from our house, otherwise you can reach dozens and dozens of other walks in the Alta Badia area, all wonderful, a little tiring, but so satisfying that the effort immediately gives way to an emotion that will stay with you for days and days.
Alpinism
Of the many alpine objectives that can be pursued in Val Badia and the surrounding area, we recommend one in particular, which starts in Corvara and reaches the summit of Piz Boè. If you wish, you can shorten it by taking the lift, but the undertaking is worth it. And then the Pisciadù peak, Sass dla Crusc, or the famous 4 peaks to be done in one day, which include Sass dla Crusc/Santa Croce 2,907 m, Piza dales Diesc/Cima Dieci 3,026 m, Lavarela 3,055 m and Conturines 3,064 m. Good legs are necessary.
For those who love climbing on rocks, there is no lack of highly suggestive routes. We suggest one in particular that lies right in front of our house and is world famous: the via Tridentina at Pisciadù. For those who would like to start in an easier way, there is the ferrata of Cir, also very close to us. For further useful information, you can ask at the House or contact the mountain guides' association, who will be able to provide you with every precious detail.
Bikes and E-bikes
The Dolomites are a paradise for cyclists. In June and September there are several days dedicated to them with the Dolomite passes closed to traffic: the legendary Sellaronda Bike Day, the Dolomiti Bike Day and the Maratona dles Dolomites are now classic events for thousands and thousands of enthusiasts. And those who don't want to put in too much effort can rent an e-bike and have fun on the most beautiful roads in the world.
Golf
The Alta Badia Golf Club just above Corvara offers enthusiasts a nine-hole golf course surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Dolomites. Such picturesque holes are few in the world.
Ski
The Alta Badia ski area is one of the most renowned in the world and at its centre is the Dolomiti Superski, which, with 1,200 kilometres of slopes and 460 lifts, is in fact the largest ski area in the Alps. The lifts can be reached from our House and immediately you can enter what is considered the most precious ring of all the Dolomites: the Sellaronda. Doing it on skis is an incomparable emotion.
Ski touring
Those who love to penetrate the snow-white peaks on skis and isolate themselves away from the clamour of the slopes can choose from numerous ski touring itineraries of breathtaking beauty. We offer you one of many, considered a classic in these parts, which involves the traverse from south to north of the Sella massif. It is the fresh snow descent from Val Mezdí, which can be admired from the spacious windows of our House. A marvel.
Cross-country skiing
There are more than 40 kilometres of tracks equipped for cross-country skiing in Alta Badia and we recommend a track that has something magical about it. It is the Armentarola meadows, lying at the foot of the majestic Sass dla Crusc, in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. At the district of La Cialciara above Furnacia, just outside the village of La Val, there is a large car park from where, with a leisurely walk of about 20 minutes, you can reach the start of the slopes. Super!
Walking and snowshoeing
When winter is poetry: winter hiking and snowshoeing are the best way to discover the enchanting beauty of the Dolomites away from the hustle and bustle of the busier slopes. In Alta Badia there are over eighty kilometres of winter trails and a wide range of snow-covered itineraries. We can only suggest our favourite: a leisurely winter walk that starts in Corvara or Colfosco and, through snow-covered meadows and forests, reaches the striking Pisciadú waterfalls. Beauty exists.
